Amber Zimmerman

Amber Zimmerman’s initial interest in archaeology stemmed from social studies class in junior high school where during a field trip to the Manitoba Glass Company Site in Beausejour, Manitoba (Manitoba Provincial Heritage Site No.44), she was given the opportunity to practice standard archaeological techniques.  It was at that point that she told herself she would become an archaeologist.
She decided to pursue a degree in Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Winnipeg, even though she heard that careers in this field were challenging to come by. She felt compelled to follow her passion.  Starting in 1994, Amber began her education in what would become her career. During the summer of 1996, Amber attended the field school at The Corrigal House (EaLf-39) in St. Andrews, Manitoba under the guidance of Donalee Deck. Amber graduated with her B.A. in Anthropology in 1998.
From 2002 to 2006, Amber worked as part of the Fire Program at Manitoba Conservation in Lac du Bonnet.  It was during this time that she first made the acquaintance of Dr. Virginia Petch.  In 2006, Amber came under the employ of Dr. Petch at Northern Lights Heritage Services Inc.  Since then, she has been involved in various projects across Manitoba as a field archaeologist. She is planning on pursuing her Masters degree at the Natural Resources Institute at the University of Manitoba.
