Eating Healthy

The diet of the inhabitants along this portion of the Red River not only included a heavy dependence on fish but also incorporated a variety of plants. There have been charred hazel nuts and pin cherries as well as a wild plum pit found in the excavation units.  Several soil samples have been taken for extracting additional seeds and nuts in order to determine other plant types that were depended upon to provide a varied and adequate diet.
